Rethinking Active
Management
Our strategies are designed to align our incentives with yours.
Our strategies are designed to align our incentives with yours.
Peter Kraus, an industry veteran with over four decades of experience holding leadership positions at major financial institutions, founded Aperture Investors to address the chasm between active and passive management.
Our mission - to align the financial success of our investment teams and the firm as a whole to generate compelling returns for clients - drives everything that we do.
The Aperture model is predicated on a three-way partnership between the firm, our Aperture portfolio managers, and our clients.
We seek to align our interests with those of our investors by closely tying portfolio manager compensation and firm profitability to performance.
We believe firms that charge a high base management fee and no performance-based fee have a natural motivation to grow assets without constraints, thereby diluting returns and being at risk of closet indexing. By contrast, we cap our capacity for each strategy to ensure we maintain our opportunity set.
Aperture seeks investment professionals who believe in our philosophy. Because their compensation is so closely tied to excess return generation, these individuals are willing to bet on themselves.
